SUNSHINE HAD A NAME

And suddenly
sunshine had a name
a form
a definition I could understand.
What once
such a foreign concept
brought to me
as if by Fate
a way to comprehend.

Sunshine had a name.

I could say it.
I could speak it.
What was joy
elation
in anticipation for the daybreak;
lightwaves
indescribable
that leak
and slink
to touch and envelop
everything
and the shadow
too
now brought to sight
so easily and freely
it could be explored…

Yes
so suddenly
sunshine came
and had a name
and the most exquisite form:

Warmth.

Ah —
if only my eyes had not evolved
in the dark.

(this burns.)
